How does Jackgreen provide electricity its customers?

Jackgreen is a retailer of renewable electricity in New South Wales. Jackgreen is licensed and a member of the National Electricity Market. Jackgreen may purchase electricity from the wholesale electricity market, or by a contractual agreement with an electricity generator.

The electricity is delivered to customers through the existing network infrastructure, in other words the same lines and poles you see in the street. When a customer chooses Jackgreen, we advise the National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO) to change that customer's supplier to Jackgreen.

What does Jackgreen mean by "guaranteed green electricity at no extra cost"?

Jackgreen customers get a guaranteed minimum of green electricity that has been generated from renewable energy sources, such as; hydro, wind and solar. For every percent of green electricity in a Jackgreen plan, the same amount will be generated from renewable energy sources.

Price comparisons are based on our competitor's regulated retail tariffs, and comparable products from other NSW electricity retailers.

What does Jackgreen mean by "regulated retail tariff"?

Regulated retail tariff means a tariff for, or in relation to, the supply of electricity required to be charged to a small retail customer under a standard form customer supply contract, being a tariff specified in a determination in force under Division 5 of Part 4 of the Electricity Supply Act 1995.

Jackgreen offers its own tariffs under a negotiated electricity supply agreement.

How does Jackgreen's pricing & billing work?

All electricity usage is charged by the kilowatt-hour, plus a standing charge to “deliver” electricity to your home. Making price comparisons can be difficult and confusing. We have done our best to make it simple and transparent.

Jackgreen's rates are set to be no more than the existing electricity suppliers regulated retail tariff for a particular region and in many cases cheaper. Because of the way electricity is “delivered” there are regional variations in prices.

When a customer joins Jackgreen their electricity usage is profiled with their consumption estimated for a 12 month period. The value of that estimated consumption is then divided into 12 equal monthly payments.

At the start of each month, Jackgreen will direct debit a customer’s nominated bank or credit card account. Each 6 months the customer’s actual metered usage is reconciled against estimated usage. If the customer has used more electricity an additional direct debit may be required.

If the customer has used less electricity than estimated, Jackgreen will refund the customer by crediting their account!

How do Jackgreen customers monitor their bill?

At any time, a Jackgreen member may enter our secure web site and view their electricity consumption. Jackgreen customers can also compare actual consumption with estimated consumption.

What happens if the lights go out?

Exactly the same as what happens now.

If your electricity supply fails customers should contact the emergency/faults number on the top of your bill.
It is likely that Jackgreen will already be aware of this event and have begun to take action via the Network Operator. The Network Operator is responsible for the maintenance of the power lines etc., and ensuring that power supply is maintained.

Jackgreen will take reasonable steps to work with the Network Operator to ensure that power is returned to a customer’s premises as soon as possible.

Does Jackgreen supply natural gas?

Jackgreen only supplies electricity, but we hope to offer you gas and other products and services in the future.

Will there be any change to the way my meter is read?
