There are a lot of activities underway at the moment and the word is spreading about Jackgreen as Australia's dedicated renewable energy retailer.
A recent Government-commissioned report, entitled "Climate Change Risks and Vulnerability" said change was inevitable and Australia could expect higher temperatures, more droughts, severe cyclones and storm surges.
Climate change from greenhouse gas emissions is a reality. Congratulations to all our customers who are doing their bit to make a difference. We need you to spread the word!
It is exciting to be a part of Planet Ark's National Tree Day this Sunday by sponsoring the North Sydney Council site at Fred Hutley Reserve. Everyone on the day will be helping the environment by replenishing the native trees and shrubs that once inhabited the site. It looks like the weather will be great for Sunday and I look forward to seeing you there.

Jackgreen Green Energy - Some answers to your questions
A few of the queries received through Jackgreen News relate to how Jackgreen sources renewable energy and how we can guarantee that customers receive it. Thank you to those who have raised such important questions. Here are the answers for everyone....
Question: Will you have difficulty sourcing green energy at reasonable costs? And why?
Answer: At this stage Jackgreen is able to secure the rights to the green energy it needs to meet its current customer forecasts at the price it needs to offer customers green energy at regulated retail rates. Jackgreen is also negotiating with other green energy projects in Australia to look at new options for green energy supply. Part of Jackgreen’s strategy is to create sufficient demand for green energy in the market to enable more projects to be built. The more projects that are required then the more economical green supply will become.
Question: By supporting Jackgreen how are we getting green electricity exactly?
Answer: Electricity is usually pooled from various generation sources, distributed down grids and eventually down poles into individual residences. As a result no one can guarantee what source your electricity comes from, unless you are on a one source system. Jackgreen as your retailer however is responsible for buying power on your behalf and in so doing, it ensures for every kilowatt of power a Jackgreen customer uses, a kilowatt of green energy has been produced.
The amount of required generation can come from electricity generated from a variety of sources however the most prevalent source is electricity generated from burnt coal, often called ‘black’ energy. The burning of the coal creates greenhouse gases. There are other forms of electricity such as solar, hydro and wind that create the same electricity but don’t create any greenhouse gas emissions in the process and this is called ‘green’ energy.
Electricity Retailers can buy their energy from either form of generation (black or green), however Jackgreen as a Retailer ensures that the equivalent amount of green energy is bought for its customer base that it uses. That is, for every kilowatt a Jackgreen customer consumes a kilowatt of green electricity is generated. This basically substitutes the black electricity that would have been generated.
In order for Jackgreen to provide its green electricity guarantee, it pays a premium in purchasing green certificates for renewable generators.
If you have any questions about green energy that you would like answered in a future edition of Jackgreen News, please email jackgreennews@jackgreen.com.au with your question and we will put it in with an answer for everyone to see!

Jackgreen Profile
This month’s profile is on Andrew Woodward, Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary

I have been with Jackgreen since February 2004 in the roles of Company Secretary and Chief Financial Officer and have seen first hand the development of the company from its early stage to a fully operational business. The road at times has been difficult, however it is pleasing to see the progress that has been made and gratifying to have been part of the team that has made it happen.
My dual roles give me exposure to most aspects of the business, which is challenging as well as rewarding. The opportunity to develop processes and build procedures to support the processes gives me a better understanding of the business. I am excited about the future growth and opportunities for the company and look forward to being part of the company that makes a difference.
Away from Jackgreen I have a passion for the game of golf and enjoy spoiling a good walk by chasing a little white ball around a golf course. The rest of my spare time is spent with my wife and two kids.
