From the Managing Director

The business is growing at a terrific rate with thousands now signing up to the Jackgreen service in NSW. And we have now successfully been awarded a Victorian license by the Victorian Government. So we look forward to offering the same service to our southern state brethren.

I was reading recently the huge increase in hurricanes and cyclones around the world, especially with the impact of Katrina fresh on our minds. While not conclusive, it would appear that increases in ocean temperatures could play a large part in these dramatic increases. It provides us further evidence that we all need to do our bit to make a change.

We will shortly provide you with an ability to recommend our service to your friends that will save them money as well as for yourself. I Hope that you make use of it and continue your great support for our company. And remember, we are listed on the Australian stock exchange with our ASX code being JGL.

Thanks again for your support.

Best Regards

Andrew Randall, Managing Director

Jackgreen Expands to VIC!

It is an exciting time at Jackgreen - we have just been granted a licence by the Victorian Government to provide electricity to the Victorian market which is a great milestone for us.

To kick off our activities in Victoria, Jackgreen participated in the High Vibes festival held in the suburb of Northcote on Sunday, 25 September. High Vibes is an event listed as a part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival and is fast becoming one of Melbourne’s premier music festivals. As well as the main music program there were activities, a special ‘Kidz Zone’ to amuse the younger visitors and a ‘Green Hub’ where Jackgreen was located to promote supporting the environment.

With over 50,000 people in attendance, the day was a huge success and gave us the opportunity to start spreading the word about Jackgreen and our aim to support the environment. We look forward to starting a direct sales team in Victoria over the next few weeks.

Jackgreen Renewable Energy - Your questions answered

Thank you to those who have raised important questions through Jackgreen News. Here is the answer to one of those questions...

Question: I'd like more factual information. For example, how many kilowatts of electricity are you buying from renewable sources such as the Alinta windfarm?  And roughly how many households would this run for a month.     - Helen Burnie -

Answer: We have contracted to buy ‘Green Rights’ from the Alinta Wind Farm.  We purchase the equivalent volume of green rights from renewable sources each year to at least equal our customers’ consumption, kilowatt for kilowatt.

The Alinta Wind Farm is approximately 90 megawatts (or 90,000 kilowatts) of capacity.  The actual output will depend on how windy it is, but wind farms usually operate at around 30-40% capacity on average over a year.  A 90MW facility should be sufficient to supply approx. 42,000 homes.

If you have any questions about renewable energy that you would like answered in a future edition of Jackgreen News, please email jackgreennews@jackgreen.com.au with your question and we will put it in with an answer for everyone to see!

Did you know...

It has been estimated that the energy output from one cyclone is in the order of 100 billion kilowatt hours each day it exists. This is more energy output than a standard power station produces in 15 years! (http://www.solarschools.net)

Jackgreen Profile

This month's profile is on David Aston, IT Systems Administrator

I have been with Jackgreen since February 2005, working in the role of IT Systems Administrator. My role involves maintaining our IT infrastructure and Servers, writing programs and scripts for our database, and providing IT support for internal staff.

Since we are a developing company, this is a very exciting and challenging position for me to be working in. We are expanding into satellite offices, and this involves me having to design and implement the IT infrastructure as our company expands. We are using up-to-date technologies in our offices and I believe this helps our company to be more efficient to meet our customer’s expectations.

The other staff members at Jackgreen are excellent people to work with, and I greatly value my time working here. It is also good to know that I am part of a great company which is aiming to support the environment.

Away from Jackgreen I have a passion for my local Church, and I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.
