Jackgreen  and ANZ have joined forces to offer Australia a fledged green credit card designed to provide financial support for eco products and services.

The key aim of this green credit card is to boost the number of households who use solar hot water. At the moment, less than 5% of homes use solar hot water despite the fact that they can save you lots of money.

If solar hot water systems save you money, why do so few people have them?

Many consumers can’t afford to fork out the large sums of upfront money needed to buy and install solar hot water systems. This new card will help to solve this.

How does it work?

Governments offer rebates if you install solar hot water systems. The problem is that most people can’t afford the upfront money for the system. This is where the card comes in.
Jackgreen Energy Save Managing Director Andrew Randall explains: “With this ANZ First Easy Being Green card, people can buy and install our solar hot water system. We then help people to get their solar hot water grant from the Government before they have to start paying interest on this green credit card. This system enables you to get the solar hot water system supplied at no direct cost.”

Used in this way, the ANZ First Easy Being Green credit card means you won’t be financially out of pocket while waiting for the Government to process your solar hot water rebate application.

What about the installation cost?

For many applicants, the Government rebates cover the full cost of the Jackgreen Energy Save solar hot water system. But these grants do not cover the smaller cost of the installation. This again is where the card earns its green credentials.

“Many households have been able to immediately knock around 30% off their electricity bill after they’ve installed an Jackgreen Energy Save solar hot water system,” says Randall.

“In the six month interest free period, you can build up significant savings from your electricity bill, which you can then put towards the installation cost on your credit card.”

“We wanted to try and do something that no-one else has done before. By linking up with a major bank like ANZ, we wanted to make people feel as secure as possible about this scheme. Our aim is to enable people to install solar hot water and not just save the environment. Over the 15 plus years lifespan of our solar hot water system, they will save a large amount of money too.”
